How to Build a Sub-$600 Gaming Computer

Gaming can be a great past time, but computer parts are expensive, and building a cheap gaming rig isn’t easy. In this guide, we will find he cheapest parts that can handle the latest games. I am assuming that you already have an OS, monitor, mouse and keyboard.

Motherboard

Our motherboard is going to be cheap, but also powerful and effective. The ASUS M4A88T-M AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX Mohterboard is small, so it can fit in most cases. It has 6 USB 2.0 ports, and an ATI Radeon HD 4250 Graphics Card on-board. It also has HDMI out. This will cost you about $80

Processor

The AMD Phenom II X4 980 Deneb 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor is very fast, and it is capable of handling the newest games with ease. At a fair $150, you are going to get a huge bang for your buck. The processor is fully compatible with the above motherboard, so you won’t have any problems in the future.

RAM

RAM is ridiculously cheap and you can get 8 gigs for just over 30 bucks. The RAM is Team Elite 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 memory, and it is just as fast as any other, more expensive RAM. Also, right now, you will get a free 8gb micro SD card when you buy it! It really is an amazing deal.

GFX

Obviously, if you want to play graphically-intense games, you need a good graphics card. We are going to be using a PNY GeForce GTX 260 with 896MB GDDR3 VRAM. It’s an older card, but it is very capable of gaming. It’ll cost you about $125.

Buy here

HDD

The hard drive is one of the more expensive components in a computer, so we found a refurbished Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JB 250GB 7200RPM. It has a hefty price tag of about $43, and that’s a discounted price.

Power Supply

The PSU is what provides power to all of the components. We are going to be using a 650W PSU, because the system is going to need plenty of power. This is gonna cost you $50.

Case

In order to keep everything together, we are going to need a case. Usually, a Micro-ATX case would work, but because the graphics card is so huge, we are going to be using a Mid-ATX case. It is an Antec Three Hundred Illusion, which is very sturdy and will keep the contents safe. It is very cheap, at only $70.

Buy here

DVD Burner

These are a must for any computer, and they are also very cheap. We are going to use an Asus 24X Burner, which only costs about $20.

Buy here

All together, you are getting a GREAT deal, and you are only going to have spent about $575 on the entire rig. But what can this mean-machine handle?

In Crysis 2, you can get 40FPS at max settings. MAX. And in Battlefield 3, you’ll be able to squeeze out 40FPS on high settings. This thing will play anything you throw at it, on almost any setting. And when you start craving better performance, upgrading is easy. You are probably going to end up paying more for games than you are for this computer.

Expert’s Column: Why you should skip it

Everyone has heard of Expert’s Column; it’s a place where writers can get paid to write articles, just like Factoidz. There are thousands of users, and people enjoy their experiences there. The whole idea is great, but the site is adequate at best.

Website Layout

The first thing that I noticed when I entered the homepage were the low-quality images used to create the ‘Pages’ links. They look as though they have been blown up four times their original size. It just doesn’t look professional. The layout is pretty amatuer-looking, also. Everything is squeezed together, making it hard to read anything without straining your eyes.

Main Pages

The pages are kind of ugly. They have random formatting, and pictures are just thrown in. But this is just the beginning. Every page has some sort of extremely evident grammatical or spelling error. I know that the creators of the website are not native English speakers, but that is not even close to an excuse. If these people are judging articles written in English, they need to know how tospeak English. This means that anyone who writes anything will most likely get their articles accepted. That is highly concerning.

Content

Similar to the last section, this section mainly focuses on grammar. Most writers on EC write better than the staff and admins. That’s how bad it is. But that doesn’t mean that they write well. Quite the contrary. In fact, I have yet to see a well written, error-free article on the site. That is not to say that they aren’t there; some Factoidz writers are also on EC. Recently, I read an article that was criticizing Factoidz, because ‘they don’t know grammar’. The author was mad because his articles kept getting rejected. Poor guy.

I decided that I would sign up, and i immediately recieved the following email:

Expertscolumn.com

I promptly (and sarcastically) responded with the following:

1) I am joining Experts Column, because I see very low quality content. There are grammatical errors, spelling errors, and other issues. I want to create high-quality articles that people can read without saying, “Huh?”

2) You cannot ‘write upon a topic’, which brings me to my next point: even the staff and admins of EC have horrible grammar. Take this quote, which I found on the Guidelines page, for example: “We know that you love to write columns and we also know that you don’t know how to write “Quality Columns”. So we have compiled this writing guidelines page specially for your help, reading which you can start writing “Quality Columns” and start increasing your reader base. Please check those writing guidelines below”. Reading this, I cringed. How can a website whose staff base does not even know proper English run and judge user-submitted articles? I hope that I do not need to point out specific errors in the quote above, because that was almost COMPLETELY illegible

3) If I published ‘fresh, unique content’, than I would be the first. When I look around the site, I see many of the same things, plus there ARE duplicates from other sites.

4) I write for Factoidz.com. And what does ‘clearly mention exact links’ mean? Should I say something like ‘this link goes to a website called Factoidz, and the color of the link is blue, and it is underlined, and the first letter is capitalized.’? Because I think that is what you just asked me to do.

5) Yes, I have a blog, and I may re-post from time to time. CircuitButter.wordpress.com. Now I will kindly mention the link: ‘have you seen that blue link over there? I like it’s hair.’

I am awe-struck that so many people come to EC, without realizing that the staff are illiterate. It is disgusting that you people actually JUDGE WRITING ABILITIES.

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to an approval email!

Instantly, I found this in my inbox:

Dear harrison taylor

thank you for contacting us. We have received your message and will contact you soon, within 48-72 hours. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The only inconvenience that I experienced was reading their emails. It became quite obvious why I have such a strong opinion about this website. I find it very depressing that people actually depend on EC for information.

How to Make Money Online with Factoidz

If you have knowledge to share, why not get paid for it? At Factoidz.com, writers are paid to write good-quality articles with a huge community of writers. There is no cost to join, and anyone who signs up can begin writing immediately. Sign up here.

There are a lot of ways to earn money with your articles, but before you can start, you need to actually publish your first article. Your first article is important, because this is where you set your precedents as a writer on Factoidz. Your articles need to be full of factual information, and must be void of bias. In order to earn a good amount of money, you need to post high-quality articles regularly. That means, at least 3 times a week. Posting an article every day is even better, but you may not have that kind of time.

How do my articles earn me money?

There are a few different ways that your articles will earn money. Your Activity Bonus is one of the most prominent. Activity bonuses are the extra money you get when you write often. The more you post, the higher your activity bonus. If an editor thinks that your article is of very high quality (contains lots of factual information, etc.), you can earn up to a $5 activity bonus for that article. Again, the more you write, the more you earn. Also, the more successful your previous articles are, the higher your next activity bonus will be. Once you get promoted to Staff Writer, you will always earn more money. The staff writer position is achieved when you successfully post 10 consecutive articles.

Traffic is another major money-earner. For every 1,000 views an article gets, you can earn from $2-$10, depending on the quality. This may not seem like a lot, but it adds up.

When you start writing very high quality articles, people will start Backlinking  to your article. A backlink is when someone writes something similar to your article on their blog, website, etc., and post a link to your article. This can increase traffic, especially if the backlinker gets lots of traffic of their own. You can also backlink your own articles, by putting links in your blog or forum signature. Just don’t spam forums, because this can get you in trouble.

Factoidz connects with websites across the Internet, and allows you to review a service, product, etc. that that particular site offers. These are called Review Bonuses. Successful review bonuses can earn you up to $20, however they must be full of great information that helps readers decide whether to use the service or not. Also, positive reviews do not get you more money, so always express your true opinion while writing reviews.

Another money earner is the Buzzitup program. Every time you buzz up a fellow contributor’s article, you get closer to gaining a credit. Articles are buzzed up by sharing them with 2 social networking sites, such as Twitter, or Digg. Once you earn a credit, you can insert your own article for buzzing up.

The last feature that earns you money is the Referral System. For every person that you refer, you will receive $10 when the become a staff writer.

If you stick with the program, and write as much as you can, the rewards will be great, and you will be successful. Don’t give up, and even if it seems like all the work is giving little payout, keep writing.

Blog Mastermind: Make money with your blog

Yaro Starak, a professional blogger, created a program for bloggers who want to make money off of their blog. It is free, and his methods really do work. I signed up for the newsletter, and watched his video, and within hours, I had more traffic and more followers. After you sign up, you will have three options; download a PDF, download a Word document, or watch the video. The PDF and the document go a little more in-depth, but the video is still extremely useful. If you would like to start earning money with your blog, you can sign up for the newsletter here: http://www.blogmastermind.com/

No ASUS Transformer Prime review, HTC Amaze 4G instead

I was not able to get my hands on the Prime, however, I ordered the HTC Amaze 4G and I’m going to review it when it arrives.

Welcome?

I guess I should start by saying ‘Welcome!’. But that would be cheesy, and since there’s nothing to see, what’s the point? So when I get a good amount of visitors, I will give you guys a proper welcome. And to anyone who is reading this right now, I will make my first real post tomorrow. I haven’t decided what about yet, but I assure you, it will possibly be worth your time.
